Citizen's Charter of the Department of Agricultural Extension
The Department of Agricultural Extension is a government service organization. The main responsibility of this department is to accelerate the pace of agricultural development by establishing links with various organizations / institutions involved in the agricultural development activities of this country through the transfer of modern and appropriate technology. About 24,000 officers and employees are working in this work from the center to the field level. In the field of technology transfer, the Department of Agricultural Extension has been providing services to the agriculture and farmers of this country by emphasizing the issues of agro-environment, socio-economic status of the farmers, market demand etc. The Citizen's Charter of the Department is as follows:
1) To provide agricultural extension support to all classes of farmers: to ensure that all members of all types of farming families get the services they need.
2) To provide efficient extension services to the farmers: To provide maximum cost effective services to the farmers in grain, fisheries, livestock, forest and family enterprises through skilled extension workers.
3) Decentralization of agricultural programs: Identifying information needs and responding to needs, gathering information about local resources, planning programs, training and formulating programs on a media basis.
4) Demand-Based Agricultural Extension: Determining the content of all extension activities and research based on identified needs, problems and possibilities.
5) Working with all classes of farming groups: To work with different types of farming groups of mutual interest existing at the field level to bring maximum benefits to the work of farmers.
6) Strengthening agricultural research and agricultural extension activities: To develop a close relationship with agricultural research and extension to find solutions to problems through agricultural laboratories as per the need of the farmers to give the above advice.
6) Training for extension workers: Training of extension workers based on the service needs of the farmer.
7) Use of appropriate extension methods: Extension agencies and staff use farm inspections, mass media, training, fairs, inspections, and motivational trips and participatory methods to achieve specific extension objectives of different classes of farmers.
9) Provide integrated extension assistance: The Department of Agricultural Extension will provide extension assistance through coordination with various government and non-government organizations.
10) Combined Extension Activities: To provide extension services through exchange of information and skills between the concerned organizations to ensure optimal utilization of resources.
11) Provide integrated support for environmental protection: control of land, water and air pollution and erosion in favor of maintaining the balance of biodiversity in the natural environment; Enhancing the capacity of environmental protectors and management and protection of public and private sector environmental issues.
12) Commercialization of agriculture: To help in marketing of agricultural products and getting fair price.
13) Use of Agricultural Information and Communication Technology: To disseminate any information, advice and technology related to agriculture to the agricultural workers, farmers and general public.
